I'm very interested in starting research into my Ulster ancestors. My grandmother, Sarah Jane Wright, was born in County Armagh.

My grandfather came from Prince Edward Island, a area called Lot 11. The Kilbride name has been hard to find information on even though there is a town in Scotland by that name. There is little to reference as to the clan and the history.

Your site uses both Scotch-Irish, and Scots-Irish. I have read the preferred term is Scots-Irish.

Being from the south, when I first looked at this site, I didn't think I had anything to contribute. Until I read further and saw that you have an interest in all New England Scots-Irish. My ancestors were Scots descendants from Cornwall who came to America via Ireland and settled in Pennsylvania. I'd be glad to share what info I have. What really interests me is the tartan in your logo. Is it Lindsay?

It is good to see that knowledge of the Ulster-Scots of Maine is being promoted.

I am just getting started researching family history. McCausland (two brothers James and John)- Appear to have come from County Derry, Ireland aboard the "5 ships" in 1718. First landing in Boston, then to Casco Bay (falmouth). The following spring, many of this party moved to Londonerry NH.. however, the 2 brothers McCausland stayed in Falmouth. In 1760, the 2 moved to Gardinerstown (2 of the 7 founding party). Any help you can provide about where they may have come from in Ireland, the "5 ships" passenger list" or info of early Falmouth 1718-1730's would be great. Thanks Dave McCausland 11/22/09

All americans should be very proud of the Ulster scots/Scotch irish who played a massive part in building the U.S, as well as winning its indeptendance long before the southern irish had even arrived.

I live in S. Portland ME. My father is from Nova Scotia (NS). Irvings were Irvine or Irvin when they first came to Baxter's Harbour, NS in either 1847 or 49. From Belfast, N. Ireland. don't know much further back than that. They came over near the time when Irish were coming as well. Irvine's were boat builders in Belfast and Baxter's harbour, working for Mr. Baxter himself. Love the pipes and drums. I have been doing studies in ancient origins of the Scots. I'll get in up on the net eventually. I say the Scots, the red haired blue eyed Scots were likely Thracian in origin. Robert the Bruce might agree with me. How else did the Scots get St. Andrew the Apostle who preached in Scythia and Thrace, as their patron saint? Anyway, my door/email is always open to anyone.
